The Top Air Conditioner Inventions

Technology is constantly being innovated at a significant rate. As consumers focus on high-tech gadgets, there have been many innovations in the air conditioner space that can completely change the way we are able to cool our homes. While some have hit the market, some of them are still years away from being implemented into consumer HVAC technology and products. Below, we will be going over a few of the different air conditioner inventions to keep an eye on.

  1. Movement Activated Air Conditioning

This is one of the top innovations in the space. This is such an eye-popping innovation that can completely change the way that we cool our homes because it can effectively improve energy efficiency tenfold. Given its technology and when put into place, it will be able to sense when someone is inside of the home which triggers the air conditioning system to turn on and begin circulating air. Given this type of technology and its implementation in the current marketplace, it will help maximize efficiency in every household. Not only will it reduce energy costs, but it can help to reduce utility costs as well and make for a much more comfortable place to live.

  1. Ice Powered Air Conditioning

Another significant innovation that is taking place in the industry is the introduction of an ice-powered AC system which works by freezing water in a tank throughout each night which helps cool a building the following day. This technology is still in its infancy stages. However, it has reached the point where it has been able to cool commercial buildings for several hours at a time which makes it a viable solution and one that could be a complete game changer in a few years.

  1. Thermally Driven AC Units

Another technology that has promised to change the AC industry is thermally driven AC units. This is a design that has been implemented and it has proven to be effective at utilizing solar energy while being supplemented with natural gas to effectively cool a building or home. Because of its incredible efficiency, it is able to minimize electricity costs and in some cases completely get rid of them altogether. Along with this, it features better cooling capabilities than a lot of the current HVAC units on the market currently which makes it a practical and viable option.

  1. Sensor Enhanced HVAC Systems

Another significant invention and innovation that has entered the marketplace are sensor enhanced HVAC systems that take advantage of and utilize sensor driven vents that effectively replace the home’s traditional vents. Because of these vents and because they feature sensors on them, they can be fully controlled by a home and/or building owner through a smartphone app to effectively control everything from the rooms temperature control to anything else. Along with this, the vents and each sensor has the ability to monitor the home’s temperature, air quality, and air pressure which can help the homeowner or building owner have much greater control over everything involving the HVAC system in their home. This is a technology that has completely changed and transformed the industry as we know it because it offers so much more control over a system that a homeowner previously had little control over.

  1. Smart Homes

As noted previously, as homes get smarter, consumers not only expect to have smart home integration, but they rely on it. Connected systems have begun to include the HVAC systems which not only offers consumers more control over their HVAC systems, but it can help them maximize efficiency throughout their homes as well.

  1. 3D Printing

Believe it or not, but 3D printing has reached a point where 3D printing HVAC systems have become entirely possible. While this is certainly not going to happen in the near future, it is reasonable to expect that someday consumers will be able to print their own 3D HVAC systems which will be a complete game-changer.

Now that we have gone over some of the different innovations that have taken place in the HVAC industry, we will be going over some of the different things that are going to hold these technologies back and how consumers are going to benefit from them.

What Can Hold Them Back?

  1. Cost

The major thing that is holding a lot of these innovations back is the cost of the technology. While the technology is there and has been developed, being able to drive widespread adoption costs down is harder than you might expect. Being able to decrease the cost to the point where it is feasible for the average homeowner is key.

  1. Duration

Some of these technologies have proven to be able to effectively cool a home or commercial building, but a few of them have yet to prove the significant duration and consistency that is needed to enter the market widespread.

How Will Consumers Benefit?

  1. Better Efficiency

The main thing that a lot of the newer technologies and innovations in the space will do is improve overall cooling efficiency throughout the home. Some of the main technologies that you can expect to see implemented into the future systems are going to do everything to improve efficiency through better energy production and harnessing, but also through better sensor technology that will allow the systems to effectively control themselves and allow for more precise control of when cooling needs to be engaged.

Overall, there are a lot of different changes coming to the air conditioning industry including having new refrigerant for air conditioners. A lot of the newer innovative technologies promise better cooling efficiency and effectiveness. Therefore, it is a good time to begin thinking about investing in newer technologies with your air conditioning system because there are more products entering the marketplace that can help you achieve a much more energy efficient and much more comfortable home environment because of the newest technology being implemented into them. The air conditioning industry is innovating at a high rate and consumers and commercial building owners are expected to be the main beneficiaries.
